What is A1200 NG?

A1200 NG is a full‑size A1200‑style home computer designed for plug‑and‑play use on modern TVs and monitors, with a simple start‑up experience and future expansion options.

What does “NG” mean?

NG = Next‑Generation. It signals familiar A1200 design with modern quality‑of‑life features (HDMI output, contemporary storage, easy setup). It’s still about quick, classic fun—without the fiddly bits.

Who makes it?

A1200 NG is developed and sold by AmigaKit Ltd. A1200 is an AmigaKit Ltd brand.

Will it run classic OCS, ECS and AGA software?

That’s the goal. A1200 NG is built for compatiblity with classic games titles and applications. It can also run RTG games too.

And floppy support?

We know some users prefer floppies. The A1200 NG supports 880K and 1.76MB disks through it’s 34-pin floppy drive connector. You can back up your old floppy disks and access your content. Gotek drives are also compatible.

Do you include games?

What’s inside?

The focus of the A1200 NG is the AmiBench desktop retaining a Classic look and feel. AmiBench runs in a high resolution with a unique icon set, dock and famous pre-installed applications such as OctaMED 8, Directory Opus 4, PPaint 7.4 and Final Writer 7. It even contains AmiBrowser, a modern web browser.

What video outputs are supported?

HDMI at common resolutions/refresh rates for today’s displays. Full 32-bit colour.

What about controllers, keyboard and mouse?

The A1200 NG supports standard USB devices such as USB flash storage drives, Competition Pro USB joystick, USB HID mice and even USB keyboards.

Networking & updates?

Support for Ethernet/Wi‑Fi and regular firmware/software updates through AmiSphere server. We are always listening to user feedback and implementing the most requested features.

Storage & saves

The A1200 NG is offered with either 64GB, 128GB or 256GB hard drives.

Save your position in classic games using the save‑states and easy content management. There is no hard limit to how many save-states that you want to use.

Can I expand or tinker?

We’ll document what’s possible without compromising the plug‑and‑play experience. Power users will have paths to configure more deeply; newcomers won’t need to.
